DAY 01: ARRIVAL – TRANSFER MEDA CITY

Arrive at Kuala Namedan-city-tourmu airport with flight… at …

Welcome by our representative / driver / tour guide (for group) upon arrival then transfer to Medan. Medan is Indonesia’s third largest city which comprised of many different ethnic groups, contributing to a wide variety of mouth-watering foods. Arrival in Medan, check in Hotel. 2 overnight stays in Medan.

DAY 02: MEDAN – CITY TOUR (B)

Today you will make a city tour of Medan by visiting remaining Malay architecture such as Maimoon Palace the palace of the Sultan of Deli which was built in 1888 and the Great Mosque, Chinese and Dutch colonial architecture buildings. The rest is your own program.

DAY 03: MEDAN – BUKIT LAWANG (B) 

Bukit Lawang 2After breakfast, drive to Bukit Lawang the conservation of the Orang Utans located in Gunung Leuser National Park through by landscape with vast view of palm oil and rubber plantation. En-route it’s possible to stops at of rubber, oil palm and cacao plantations with some countryside landscape (optional). Arrive in Bukit Lawang, check in hotel. 2 overnight stay in Bukit Lawang.

Accommodation : Eco Lodge Bukit Lawang Cottages / Batu Mandi Guesthouse / Sam Bungalow or similar.

 

 

DAY 04: BUKIT LAWANG – JUNGLE TREKKING @GUNUNG LEUSER NATIONAL PARK incl. Lunch

orang-utan-update-3After breakfast, start for a 6 hours jungle trekking in Gunung Leuser National Park to see the wildlife.  This involves a walk through the jungle to explore the park. Steep, slopes and dense vegetation will bring you the excitement of the rainforest. In this tropical primary rainforest, you can see the varieties of birds, butterflies, siamang (long arm apes), different kinds of reptiles The rest is your own program, you can swim or take a beautiful walk to the local village nearby.

DAY 05: MEDAN – BRASTAGI HIGHLAND (B)

brastagiBreakfast at hotel, depart to Brastagi highland via Sembahe village. On the way you will stop at Shwedagon pagoda Replica at Taman Alam Lumbini. Brastagi is the mountain resort where you can visit Gundaling hill to see the two active volcanoes in Brastagi: Sibayak (2.172 m) and Sinabung (2.417 m). Then visit fruits market which has many fruit, vegetables and flowers.  Check in hotel.

DAY 06: BRASTAGI – PARAPAT – SAMOSIR ISLAND (B)

lake toba update 5Breakfast at hotel, drive to Lake Toba via mountain resort with it’s refreshing weather and magnificent scenery which has an abundance of flowers, vegetables and fruits. Enroute stop at Sipiso-Piso waterfall to see the magnificent 110 metres and an extraordinary view of Lake Toba from the north side. Next stop is the ancient King’s Palace of Batak Simalungun / Rumah Bolon and Simarjarunjung to enjoy ginger tea and fried bananas (own personal expenses). Arrive at Parapat, a town on the shore of Serene Lake Toba where you cross over the lake Toba by ferry to Samosir island. The car goes with you. Check in hotel. 2 overnight stay on Samosir island

DAY 07: SAMOSIR ISLAND TOUR (B)

simanindo-5After breakfast at hotel, it’s time to explore this magnificent island by visiting Tomok Village to see the ancient tomb of king Sidabutar, then visit Ambarita village to see the famous stone chairs & execution place of King Siallagan. The last visit is Simanindo to enjoy the Bataks traditional ritual dances of the Bataks Tribe. The rest is your own program, you can take a beautiful walk or ride a bicycle (optional) or take a rest in hotel.

DAY 08: SAMOSIR ISLAND – PARAPAT – PADANG SIDEMPUAN (B)

sipoholon-600x330Breakfast at hotel. Then you cross back to Parapat where you depart for Padang Sidempuan. You will drive along the southern shores of lake Toba with its rice fields and Batak kings’ graves through the Toba highlands. Stop at Coffee, Clove, and pineapple plantation and Sipoholon Hot springs. You may also stop at the bank of Sarulla river near the nice view of rice terrace where you can do short walk. Early in the evening arrive in Padang Sidempuan. Check in hotel.

DAY 09: PADANG SIDEMPUAN – BUKITTINGGI MINANGKABAU HIGH LAND (B)

bukittinggi-2Breakfast at hotel leave Padang Sidempuan for Bukittinggi the Minangkabau highlands brings you again right through the Bukit Barisan mountain ridge of Sumatra. It is an impressive tour in which you drive through a wall of tropical rain forest. On the way you will stop at Sihepeng to see the attraction of mongkey picking up the coconut and pepper, vanilla, cardamom and cinnamon garden. Then passing rain tropical forest of Rimba Panti and crossing equator line at Bonjol. In the evening arrive at Bukittinggi the charming town of Minangkabau tribe. check in to hotel.

DAY 10: BUKITTINGGI – MANINJAU EXCURSIONS (B)

maninjau-2After breakfast you drive to Maninjau, on the way stop at Koto Gadang village to see traditional silver work. From there by the car for departure to the mysterious lake Maninjau, descending to the lake via the road with forty four curves. The lake is clean and still and excellent for swimming. In the afternoon you drive back to Bukittinggi.

DAY 11: BUKITTINGGI – MINANGKABAU EXCURSIONS – HARAU (B)

harauAfter Breakfast, drive to Batusangkar through Tabek Patah, on the way stop at Rao rao to see the Minangkabau Traditional Village including see the  traditional coffee miling. Arrived to Batu Sangkar with historic rock inscriptions in Hindu-Indian Sanscrit language. Drive to Pagaruyung to see the duplicate palace of Minangkabau Kingdom. Afternoon drive through Padang Panjang and visit the traditional hand weaving and wood carving at Pandai Sikat Village. Late afternoon drive to Payakumbuh and Our next destination is the Harau nature reserve, famous for its huge rock formations, delightful butterflies, rice field terrace, traditional village. Overnight stay in Harau

DAY 12 : HARAU – PADANG (B)

PADANG BEACHBreakfast at hotel. Free program in Harau. You can do a walking around Harau valley countryside to see the hidden beauty of Harau valley landscape or trekking (optional).  Hereafter continue drive to Padang via the beautiful Anai valley with the Anai waterfall. Arrive in Padang, check in hotel. Overnight stay in Padang.

DAY 13 : PADANG – SUNGAI PENUH / KERSIK TUO (B)

kayo-aro-kerinciBreakfast at hotel. Today you drive to Kersik Tuo for 6 hours drive. Impressive route along the western coastal route. Enroute pass through the twin lake Diatas and lake Dibawah. Then visit Telun Berasap waterfall at Letter W, and then passing Tea Plantation at Kayu Aro. Arrive in Kersik Tuo and overnight stay in a simple accomodation in Kersik Tuo in the famous Kerinci nature reserve. 2 overnight stays in Padang.

DAY 14 : TREKKING TO GUNUNG TUJUH  @KERINCI NATIONAL PARK (B,L)

trekking-gunung-7-kerinciAfter breakfast, transfer by minibus to Gunung Tujuh lake National Park for about 1 hours. Lake Danau Tujuh is a huge-mysterious lake on 1.995 m above sea level and surrounded by primary rainforest and 7 hills. Lunch will be served on the side of the lake. The pristine area around the lake is known as the habitat of Sumatran Tigers, Sumatran Elephants, Primates, endemic birds of Sumatra as well as research area for the “small man” living in the jungle around the lake. Most of the day spent by trekking and explore the surrounding in search for animals, birds and exotic plants.

DAY 15: KERSIK TUO – BANGKO (B)

lake-kerinciAfter breakfast city tour by visiting Simerup Hot Spring, Old Historical Mosque with its Giant Drum and Lake Kerinci, then drive to Bangko on the way passing rain tropical forest with its flora and fauna

Stop will be made at several interesting places and arrival at Bangko check in to hotel. 2 overnight stays in Bangko

DAY 16: BANGKO – EXPLORE KUBU PRIMITIVE TRIBE (B,L)

anak-dalamAfter breakfast drive to Bukit Dua Belas national park for about two hours drive and than tracking to the jungle to get in touch with the primitive Kubu Tribe, you will experience how is the primitive Kubu people living nomanden in the jungle, earn their food from the wild jungle such as hunting the animals, collect fruits from the jungle or fishing from the river. Afternoon return back to hotel.

DAY 17: BANGKO – LUBUK LINGGAU (B)

sarolangun-riverAfter breakfast drive to Lubuk Linggau via Surolangun, on the way stop at Surolangun river, witness the daily life of local people in their village, and visit traditional market, arrival at Lubuk Linggau check in to hotel. Overnight stay in Lubuk Linggau.

DAY 18 : LUBUK LINGGAU – PALEMBANG (B)

palembangAfter breakfast at hotel. Drive to the city of Palembang in South Sumatra. The important historic harbour city of Palembang on the shores of the Musi river is the second town of Sumatra.  Palembang is one of the oldest cities in the Malay Archipelago and Southeast Asia. Palembang is located on the Musi river banks on the east coast of southern Sumatra. 2 Overnight stays in Palembang.

DAY 19 : PALEMBANG – TOUR MUSI RIVER & SURROUNDINGS (B)

kamaro-islandBreakfast at the hotel. Today start for Musi River Tour to Kemaro island by boat that has a unique legend. Along the Musi river pass down Pusri by seeing people’s lives on the bank Musi river with traditional boat / raft and floating house. Returning from Kemaro Island, followed by visiting historical and cultural attractions to Museum Sriwijaya Kingdom Archaeological Park, Siguntang hill. Then return to the city of Palembang where you visit Ampera bridge and Museum Sulthan Mahmud Badaruddin II which faces the Musi river. It was built by the Dutch in 1823 on what was formerly the Sultan’s palace. Eight hundred years ago Palembang was the center of the Sriwijaya empire of which there are still remnants. In the eighteenth century the city was an important trade center for the Dutch. We can see the old Dutch fort and the former Governor house. Return to hotel.

DAY 20 : PALEMBANG – WAY KANAN (B)

way-kananBreakfast at hotel. Today you drive to Way Kanan. At the end of your Sumatra tour you go to one of the wildlife highlights of Sumatra, the Way Kanan nature reserve. In this undiscovered area you will overnight on an open spot on the Way Kanan riverside in simple lodges of the forest rangers. 3 Overnight stays in Way Kanan.

DAY 21 : WAY KANAN – TOUR BIRDING, SIOMANG GIBBONS, ELEPHANT SAFARI and RIVER TRIP (B)

ELEPHANT SAFARI WAY KANANTake an early bird walk with our experienced bird guide and also see the village activities or cycle to hear the Siamang gibbons with one of the Park Rangers to see and hear the haunting calls of the Siomang Gibbons returning to the Lodge for a well earned breakfast. After breakfast, you will proceed to The Way Kambas Elephant Training Centre where you will be assigned a mahout and an Elephant. Remember to take some sugar cane from the Lodge garden to give to your Elephant to cement your relationship. You proceed for a ride in the forest (30 – 60 minutes according to your taste). You may see some birds including orioles or even the white winged wood duck during the ride. You then return to the lodge stopping at The Butterfly Bridge where up to 50 species have been seen over an hour period. After lunch and a siesta, at 1500 hours you will be taken into the park to Way Kanan for a short river trip where you should see primates, birds, mammals (even a Sun Bear) and hopefully wild Elephant. This is a magic day with so many different experiences. Back to the Lodge for dinner.

DAY 22 : WAY KANAN – TOUR : RIVER BOAT + WALK TO KALIBIRU (walk 2 – 3 hrs total)

River boat and walk to Kalibiru - Way KananAfter a leisurely breakfast, you will drive slowly through the Park to Way Kanan stopping to see and hear the Siomang Gibbons calling. You will then take a boat to Kalibiru (around 60 minutes). Then you will proceed on a fascinating walk either to a game viewing platform or to Rawa Gajah, a swamp area where often Elephants are seen. Depending on the season, this area is grassland or under waist deep water. Sambar deer, wild pig, binturong and the endangered white winged wood duck have been seen here. The trail often shows scats, pug marks and tree scratching of Tigers. This makes the trip really exciting. After a picnic lunch, you will walk slowly back to the boat and who knows what you may see on the river on return, hopefully primates, different bird species, deer and maybe elephants. A great days wildlife experience.

DAY 23 : WAY KANAN – BANDAR LAMPUNG (B)

bandar-lampungBreakfast at lodge. Today driver to Bandar Lampung. Overnight stay in a hotel with a beautiful view over the Sunda straights, between Java and Sumatra.

DAY 24 : BANDAR LAMPUNG – AIRPORT (B)

After breakfast at hotel. Free rogram on your own leisure. Pick up form hotel and transfer to the airport of Bandar Lampung to catch your flight to Java or other destination. End of services.
